Aaron TP2
On Monday I met with my other Tutoring partner for the first time. After our introduction we got into vocab. I had a lot of words prepared and asked him to read it and asked if if he knew what the word meant. Most of the words he didn't know were difficult to define. Denial, campaign, ensuring, I started by telling him synonyms of the words, then giving him the word in a sentence, then i asked him to give me the word in a sentence. he he was still confused I asked him to look it up on his translator. some words I could give him the Arabic equivalent such as administration. When explaining the word campaign I explained to him our election process and told him who Mitt Romney is and how he became the republican nominee. Explaining denial was problematic. The concept of being In Denial was difficult to explain. I gave him examples of atrocities committing by dictators and states and how the leaders and individuals will deny such events even though there is overwhelming evidence on the contrary. After it seemed like he had a good understanding of the term I asked him to use it in a sentence. He used a perfect example saying that the president of Syria is in denial of the atrocities the state is committing. After vocab and pronunciation I asked him grammar questions. He had I good understanding of most of the grammar I had planned for him so I asked him what he was confused about. He explained he had a difficult time with present perfect and past perfect. I told him I would prepare a lesson on these for the next time we meet.
