David cp-2

On Tuesday I was able to meet up with my other conversation partner Ladji who is from the Ivory Coast.  Being from the Ivory Coast French is his primary language.  I was really glad to learn that he speaks French because all miscommunications we will have over the course of our meetings can be cleared up in French.  This makes things so much easier and saves a bunch of time.    It is also good to have another conversation partner for French because with my current situation I can use all the practice that I can get my hands on.

During our first meeting I soaked up a ton of information on Ladji.  He is hoping to get his degree from an American university in Business Administration.  He then wants to return to his home country with his new found knowledge and help his people, which I find very admirable.  He said his ultimate dream/goal was to become the president of the Ivory Coast, which I thought was just spectator.  After hearing this my mind just raced on that thought for a bit and just continued to go over in my head of how cool it would be to have helped teach the future Ivory Coast president English. In this moment I saw how important what I am doing really is, how important teaching English is and just teaching in general, and how the profession of teaching plays a pivotal role in shaping the world in which we live. That is a cool thought and makes me proud of the road I am on.

  1. Yes, we are ambassadors and active participants in building a more tolerant, healthier any more peaceful world. In many countries only the top students have the opportunity to study abroad. These will be their countries future leaders.

However, please capitalize "English". It all hinges on it!
