Alena came over as is the new tradition on Wednesday nights and as usual she came bearing something. This time it was delicious watermelon from new leaf market. DOUBLE YUM! For dinner we decided to serve her up some Tacos because we were unsure if she had ever had them. Turns out she had and loves them. Tacos are one of her favorites, which I found kind of weird considering she is Russian. Apparently many Russians have a fascination with warmer spanish speaking climates specifically Cuba. (WHO KNEW??? Maybe it has something to do with the cold war? ) Anyways she told us how it was a dream for many Russians to travel and spend sometime in Cuba which Kati and I were both very interested in.
Tonight was especially sweet because not only does Alena also play the guitar but she sings too! She sang us a hauntingly beautiful Russian lullaby that she used to sing to her kids. It was breath taking to hear the song and it turned the night into an all out jam session after that. My wife grabbed the guitar next to play some Beetles and after that I paid my homage to the Eagles. We jammed the night away and before we knew it it was way past any reasonable time. We bid Alena goodnight looking forward to our next musical night together.
The more we hangout the more I find that we have in common. I really enjoy being able to just share life with people. This is what it is all about.
Impromptu jam sessions are the best! I'm sufficiently jealous haha. I just introduced my CP to Mexican food earlier this week too. She enjoyed it as well!
