The Grand Adventure to Lofty Pursuits! 5/16/12

There was a lot that went on that day so I will be as succinct as possible.

I picked up Butsawan, Joyce and Joyce's roommate, Faye from campus and headed over to Lofty Pursuits. I wanted to invite Rose to come along but before I had the opportunity, I had already two requests before me that I couldn't offer a ride to the a place where pursuits are lofty. BUT WAIT! What great fortune that smiled upon us (too dramatic?)! Kelly was able to go and invited Rose to come along. Austin done drove e'eryone over there along with his partner (whom I unfortunately forgot his name).

Along the way, we all got to know each other a bit. A little bit of Chinese talk happened as I'm trying to increase my skills on that front. I tried not to focus on that for too long because Butsawan is not Chinese so I felt bad for doing that a bit. However, she enjoyed the whole mix of things. In the car, we talked about music, Chinese stories, movie stars.

Once we got there, there was a great deal of time spent in deciding options and deciphering the menu. In some sort of misunderstanding, I told them jerks that I would be having the Diesel - Delicious Guinness ice cream covered in lavish amounts of coffee syrup and topped off with (I presume hand-made) chocolate whipped cream. Holy scrumptiousness, Batman.

In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have told them my order (I wasn't ordering yet) because the others didn't decide on their order for quite a while... lol) Soon after, Allison and her conversation partner, XinWen arrived followed by the others, Kelly, Rose, Austin, aaaand... his conversation buddy. That guy. It's killing me. I swear, I know his name. I'mma look that up later.

All in all, it was quite a natural environment for everyone to talk. There were lots of things to look at, thus initiating small talk and comments. Mayowa was workin'. Packing candy and such, gave samples out. We crowded around his work area and critically scrutinized his efficacy in skills. Adequate. Adequate, I'd say. ha

While I got to speak with my partners sufficiently, I would have liked for a more thorough conversation to strengthen their chat-chitting skills. I thought that the event was a great success. Everyone had fun. A Blasty blast. Good day.

I would like to organize another event for all of us TEFL students to gather with their partners. Some suggestions were bowling, a potluck, Voodoo Dog. I'll work out another event soon unless someone wants to help or take the reins.

  1. Good times! Looking forward to another group outing. Maybe we should bring it up in class, or during class break?

  3. "Holy scrumptious, Batman." I lol'd.

I agree with Kelly though. It was certainly a good time. We ought to organize some group dinner or outing of sorts.
