Aaron CP2

Yesterday I met with my second coversation partner. He is from Saudi Arabia and has been studying English since his first year in college. The first fifteen minutes  of out conversation focused on Saudi culture, and the major differneces in american culture. He was very quiet and a little hard to talk to. His english was very good and there were no communication problems. We went on to talk about American Television and I found out that he was very fond of it. He told me his favorite show was "Friends". He explained to me that he married right after finishing his degree in college and he now has three kids. He told me their age and names and explained that he had to leave early to take one to the doctor. Despite his near perfect English, he was very reserved and didn't say much. After my first meeting with my conversation partner, I though it would be a good idea to prepare some conversation topics and it worked a little. I didnt prepare enough for someone this quiet.

  1. The first meeting can sometimes be like this, Aaron. Perhaps you can try to meet somewhere that he would like to go. This can be a coffee shop, hooka bar, with other students, etc. Open up this conversation with him about where he would feel most comfortable conversing.
