Allison TP - 12

On Thursday afternoon, I met up with Yasuko for our final meeting. She was quite sad that I was not going to be around for the next session in its entirety since I'm moving home soon. She was hoping that I could tutor her again this session. I agreed to help her during July though while I'm still here. Hopefully, that will be enough time to help her out at least a little bit more!

First, we started out by me giving her the tutee feedback form. She said this was very easy to fill out because she really liked the manner in which I tutored her, which was better (in her opinion) than some of the CIES teachers. This prompted a long discussion of how different teachers have different styles and methods for teaching. None of which are wrong and that some perhaps are more effective for students based on their varied ways of learning. This took up most of the tutoring hour as we focused on speaking and occasionally correcting her pronunciation as usual.

After that, we looked at her grades from this past session and agreed that she needed to work on her grammar a little bit. For the rest of the day, we focused on the usage of gerunds and infinitives. I had her give me examples of sentences that used those parts of the speech to practice. By the end, I think she had a firmer grasp of the topic.
