Olumayowa TP-7

Hamad is my favorite tutoring partner (don't tell anyone!). Every time we meet it's like we're just friends hanging out because I ask how his classes are going, what he doesn't feel so confident about, then we dive right into doing whatever has to be done. His grammar skills are more advanced than mine, and his speaking is very articulate; he only has trouble understanding what people are saying sometimes and finding the vocabulary to express himself.  He had earlier shown me multiple excerpts of " ملك الاسد", also known as "The Lion King", so I had the same excerpts from us to watch together in English now that I understand both the English and Arabic versions while he still needed to make the connection in the English language. Whenever we meet, I try to talk about something that he knows little to nothing about so that he asks questions or dives for his Blackberry to check Google translate for a new word. This time I started to ask about Kuwait and the translating the names of animals that one can find there like "الاسد" for Lion and "الزلحفة" for Turtle. This had to lead into an episode of "Big Cat Diary" which I've gotten him into, this show basically consists of English people narrating the lives of leopards, lions and cheetahs. It is pretty much the most badass show for English language learners.

I think on our next meeting we'll be going to the Tallahassee Museum of Natural History where he can get up close to some cool animals to identify like panthers, rattlesnakes, foxes, bears, alligators, and deer. Anyone who hasn't been yet should definitely pay them a visit! Maybe come with us!
