June 5th
Since this was the last time for me to study together with Michelle, I planned to review all the issues we had talked about together firstly. Then, I would continue to teach her how to use ordinal numbers in a right way.
I asked Michelle to come up with a dialogue by using all the expressions we had learned in the past five lessons. She did a really great job! Compared with the first time when I met with her, I was so happy to see her progress. What’s more important was she felt more comfortable and confident when she talked to me. Yeah! Awesome!
Secondly, we continue to study ordinal numbers and how to use them. I asked her to write down January to December (I knew she could do that, this is a process to build up her confidence.) Then, I asked her the questions, “How many days are there in June?” and “What’s the date today?” “When is your birthday?” In this way, she could identify which type of numbers she should use in each context to respond them. She also realized why we should use ordinal numbers to answer the second question, because June 5th is the fifth day of June. So, cardinal numbers talked about the quantity of someone or something. On the other hand, ordinal numbers was relevant to the specific order.
Finally, we learned Lesson 8c together, which focus more about how to use numbers in real conversations. In addition, Michelle learned some new expressions in this video, such as “married” and “engaged”. I explained the difference between these words, and she understood them very well. When I asked her, “Are you married?” She was a little shy. So cute!
Thank you, Michelle! And Good luck!
