Aaron TP-5
On Saturday I met with Abdullah. In this session we focused on listening and speaking. He had a speaking assignment due in two days, so we discussed the presentation. It was about traveling for 5 days to two different states. I asked him which two places he wanted to speak about and he told me he wanted to do New York City and wasn't sure about the other city he wanted to speak about. I asked him if he had been to Washington DC and he said he had so told him that it would be a good place to speak about because of the high number of historical sites and Museums. I then told him to recite what he wanted to say, taking notes on grammatical errors and asking him questions while he was speaking. I asked him questions about sites in DC because I have never been there. It got him to speak more and made it feel less like a memorized speech. After we moved to a listening homework assignment that was due on Monday. He had two watch a ted talk called "What is the right thing two do?". He had to give a one paragraph summary of the video explaining the main idea. The video was a higher level than expected and was relatively hard to explain a lot of the words in the video. I remember having a hard time explaining the phrase Don't Mind to him which became somewhat problematic. I had never thought about the literal meaning of the phrase. I tried my hardest to help him without doing his homework for him. It went well and I think he did a great job despite the fact that the video had a lot of difficult vocab.

I really like this: " I asked him questions about sites in DC because I have never been there. It got him to speak more and made it feel less like a memorized speech".
