Allyce_CP6

The beach proved to be a fun escape each day; I think we even spent about 6 hours there Monday morning. Arad really liked the white sands of Destin and had fun commenting on all the people passing by. I taught him how to pick out the tourists from the locals (they always come with a cooler, tents, large groups of people and they are always, and I mean ALWAYS wearing a “Destin” t-shirt or bathing suit cover up!). We spent most of the time swimming around in the clear water or napping on the beach, we brought my 19 year old sister along that day as well; she provided most of the entertaining moments.
It should be known that my sister has a habit of using slang on a regular basis. She listens to a mix of music from rap to pop to the Glee soundtrack but no matter what she memorizes each word and makes it a point to look up any slang she doesn’t know on Urbandictionary.com and incorporate it into everyday language, I can usually figure out what she means but Arad on the other hand…As we were people watching a rather attractive man walked by looking very suave and Madison exclaimed “He’s got swag!” Okay so he looks like a million bucks, carries himself very well etc. but Arad got very curious, “Swag? What is this swag?” Madison nonchalantly explained that he walked with confidence, he knew he was cool. “Oh! So Allyce could I use this when I talk?!” I had to suppress a giggle, “Sure you could if you would like, but don’t put it in a paper or something official, just with your friends or something.” He had a huge smile on his face “So that person there, he has the swag!” Me and my sister looked at each other, “no, no not THE swag, he’s got swag,” Arad looked confused “Right, he’s got the swag!” I tried again, “No, there is no the,” Arad interrupted me, “Okay I’ve got the swag!” Me and Madison just started to laugh and let it go, It was too cute and we didn’t want to make such a little thing into a big deal.
Me and my sister
Again, we continued to people watch and our conversation turned to discussing an unnamed friend who always seemed to boss her husband around “He is so mousey!” Arad looked confused again, “What do you mean by mousey?!” I thought about it a minute (it really is a weird word once you think about it) “Well you know, like timid, doesn’t have a lot of backbone…he basically is afraid of his wife.” Arad started to laugh “Oh! Okay so he is a mousey!” Me and Madison couldn’t stifle our laughter this time, “No Arad, there is no article before it, it is just ‘mousey’.” He smiled “Right, like John is a mousey! This is great, I love hanging out with your sister, I learn all sorts of words that I don’t learn from you!”

The whole thing was just hilarious, no matter how many times we tried to explain it to him; he couldn’t understand that you don’t put an article before the descriptions. It was okay though, it made the whole day that much more funny.

  1. I LOVE Destin! And people watching is seriously half the fun. :) Arad is lucky to have such a great CP, with so much of the swag!
