This past Thursday I kidnapped XinWen from CIES like usual for our little luncheon tutor date. I decided to take her to a Tallahassee favorite: Crepe Vine. Naturally, I had to explain that a crepe was typically a French type of food, but this restaurant had sort of Americanized it by using them to make sandwiches. Once again, she approved of my dining location choice for lunch.
I really wish I had time to blog about this meeting earlier because I can't remember all of the vocabulary that we covered that day. I know that the majority of it came out as the result of us tweaking her latest composition though. I think the new words were mostly transitional ones like "additionally". I also taught her "elderly" because she kept referring to old people in her essay as "aged" which I found a little funny.
Once again by helping XinWen with her essay, I learned about the Chinese culture. Last week her essay was about the importance of pandas in China. This time her essay was about the main kinds of Chinese fashion! I found this to be most valuable information since I'll be travelling there soon. Now I know that only elderly people wear the Chinese tunic suit...not that I own one, but I might have thought it looked cool and bought one to be in with the culture. The primary errors that we corrected in her draft were missing articles and prepositions as well as verb forms.
