Allison TP - 9

This past Wednesday I met up with Yasuko at CIES for some quality tutoring time! Finally, we were in a setting where I could access the internet AND I had brought my laptop so we set to work on the pronunciation packet that we went over in class during the Speaking lessons. Throughout the lesson I could see steady improvements in her speech which was quite exciting! Her "w" and "wh" sounds are both considerably stronger than when we first met a few weeks ago. However, her "l"s and "r"s continue to be particularly troublesome. Plus, she often forgots to include the "s" sound when she is reading a word with that letter, particularly if that sound is at the end of the word.

Next we worked on some tongue twisters. I must admit that some of them in that packet were even hard for me! There was one about sick shiek's sheeps or something. We had to work on that one for quite a while since there were so many "s" sounds and she had a hard time differentiating between the regular s sound and sh.

Half way through our time, Yasuko asked if we could go over something different because she had a big presentation due the next day. Thus, I proofread what she had so far and gave her a few suggestions as to what she might say in certain situations. She was quite thankful for this and once again felt considerably more confident going into her presentation.
