Well it
seems that everyone is leaving for the summer so I made sure to
have dinner with Arad last night before he
headed off to Israel
Monday morning. We decided to meet at Mr. Robotos near campus and just catch up
since Memorial Day weekend. We kept trying to get together for coffee or
something but it has been so difficult to find time between class, tutoring and
work! Either way, as soon as work ended last night I went to pick him up, he
found it comical to see me in my UPS uniform!
As we got
in line he was curious about what kind of food they served, he knows what sushi
is but he was very interested in “hibachi” I explained to him how they grill
the food and put it over rice or noodles, he thought that sounded heartier than
my spicy octopus roll and ordered that instead. He was amazed by the food! “Allyce,
this is real meat! Not the weird stuff you Americans usually put in your food,
this actually tastes like good beef!” I was happy for him; I guess I’m used to
our weird meat because I hardly ever notice a difference…not to mention that I
rarely eat meat anyways. He wouldn’t stop raving about Mr. Robotos “Oh we need
to come here again when I return to Tallahassee ,
this place is amazing!” I’m not going to say I don’t agree, I’m a pretty big
Mr. Roboto’s fan myself but I wouldn’t exactly call it fine dining! He seems to
have trouble finding restaurants here in the States that he likes, he
says everything is too bland, cheap or greasy, not fresh like his food back
home. Although he quickly added that he hardly ever eats out like the Americans do, "Maybe once a week at the most!" he said "not every other day like you guys." I'm guilty as charged! Eventually we settled down, him with
a Yuengling me with a Kirin Ichiban and got to talking!
He had tons
to say about his upcoming wedding and finally completed his wedding outfit. He
decided on a white shirt, grey pants, a brown belt, tan shoes, a plaid fedora
and a pink tie…to each his own! It was really cute though to hear him talk
about his fiancé and all the wedding stuff he had to do once he arrived in Israel
again. He asked me to come over Sunday night and help him pack up his fiance’s
wedding dress in his carry on, Leah didn’t want him to risk putting it with the
luggage, so I agreed, I have a lot of experience packing wedding dresses at
UPS. I told him to promise Leah it would arrive perfectly intact. I’m glad I
will get to see Arad one more time before he leaves, I felt bad because I think
I was kind of boring last night so hopefully I will be more lively Sunday!
