Today, I planned to teach her Real English Lesson 4 Favorite color and Lesson 5 Nationality. I knew Lesson 4 was easy for her, so it only took us 10 minutes to complete this lesson. She wrote down all the colors that she could write, and we practiced the basic sentences using colors, “--What’s your favorite color? – My favorite color is green.” Or “I love green.” Green is Michelle’s favorite color. I also emphasized two words in the video, which are “definitely” and “actually”. I taught her the pronunciation of these two words and told her they were used very often in American English speaking. She can practice more when she speaks at CIES and outside.
Unlike Lesson 4, Lesson 5 was very hard for her to study. There are so many new vocabulary about nationality and country, and she must be able to identify their different use in the conversation. In order to help her to understand these countries, I googled the map of the world and showed her all of the countries that were mentioned in the video. I found that her geography knowledge was good enough to figure out all of these countries very quickly.
For my task in this lesson, I should help her to identify the different words that express country or nationality and use them in right conversation or sentences. For example, “What nationality are you?” should match to nationality words to answer it. “Where are you from?” should match to country words to respond it.

I ended this lesson by practicing dialogues with her to talk about her own nationality and country, my nationality and country as well.
